We have had many very talented and noteworthy teammates, sponsors and organizers throughout the years, but this space is dedicated to the one that most stands out for reasons that are not directly Dragon Boat related.
We remember Carolyn Veitch-Rakowski, a.k.a. "Tirebiter".
October 2, 1979 - October 14, 2005
Carolyn served as our team drummer and our friend, but sadly we lost her at the tender age of 26 to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It reminds us how fragile life is and to appreciate what we have and try to live life to it's fullest.
Every year during the flower ceremony at the Manitoba Dragon Boat Festival and any other competitions that feature a flower ceremony, we remember our dear friend Carolyn, and of course all of the other people in our lives that have been taken or touched by Cancer.
In memory of Carolyn, Boogie's Draggin' Butt has named our MVP award for the competitive team the "Carolyn Veitch award".
We love you and we miss you "Tire".
